However, when you walk down the click aisle, you may be a little overwhelmed with the variety of choices that are available. Here are a few tips concerning what you should look for when you are purchasing an alarm clock radio.
Alarm clocks are most useful for the alarm. This is what they are for, right? This one of the most important aspect to give consideration when you are looking for just the right clock. What do the alarms sound like? You may not enjoy being waken in the morning by a high pitched alarm, and your may not enjoy an alarm that sings a wakeup tune just a little too cheerfully. Some prefer an alarm that has waterfall or nature sounds, but others would just sleep right through this. The alarm a basic necessity on your clock and you should make sure that it is one you will enjoy using.
Also consider what extra features you may need with an alarm. Do you need a snooze button for those few extra minutes of quality rest? What about a dual alarm so you and your partner can both use the same click to wake at different time settings?
You may want ot consider purchasing a clock with battery backup, especially if you are a heavy sleeper with an important job to get to on time each day. Make sure the battery backup has enough power to sound the alarm even if the power shuts off during the night.
If you plan to use the radio on your new clock, you may want to make sure the quality of the sound and the reception are good. There are cheap alarm clocks that may function quite well simply as an alarm, but not as a radio.
What about the light? Some clocks are so bright that the owner just cannot fall asleep while it is on. Some clock radios come with dimmable light switches, which can be a helpful feature, especially if you require perfect darkness to get a good nights sleep.
