Embedded Spy Cameras even if you don’t work for the CIA
Shopping July 12th, 2009Spy cameras - nothing new here Embedded cameras have been around for years, but now they are becoming more affordable and in more products for the average consumer. Here we’re going to talk about some of the various types of cameras that are available right now.
First up is a desktop calculator spy camera. Just imagine a standard desktop calculator with a small embedded video camera. It also works as a desktop calculator making the disguise complete. Look for a camera that records at least 25 FPS (frames per second) with a resolution of 320×240. Also look for multiple video and photo recording formats, such as AVI, MPEG4, and MP3.
Next up are spy camera watches. These wristwatches look like those straight out of a James Bond movie. Chic looking, with the camera lens embedded in the face of the watch. One model, for example, has the lens neatly hidden in one of the numbers. Due to the smaller size, the video quality isn’t quite as nice as in a larger device. It is still amazing for something you can get for under $200.
Another very spy movie-like device is spy cam sunglasses. These should take both photos and video. Find a pair that takes at least 1.3 Megapixel shots. Again, under $200, you can turn into a secret agent fast.
If you need to take images or video remotely or above ground, then get a remote control spy plane. This is perfect for reconnaissance. Most people wouldn’t even stop to think that a remote controlled plane could take photos or record video.
If you would rather keep things on the ground, then there are lots of options for RC cars and trucks with spycams. You could even attach your own camera to an RC toy. There are even models that will beam live video to a remote screen or headset.
Perhaps you have children and have babysitters or nannies take care of your kids periodically. A desktop calculator may not cut it as it won’t fit in in a child’s bedroom or the living room. In this case, there are toys (teddy bears for example!) that have embedded cameras, some of which can be connected to your home computer network and that can transmit live video. You can then view that from any computer with a Web browser.
