Unusual Engagement Rings: What are the Best Ones? .
Shopping March 3rd, 2010There are different types of engagement rings. Just as clothing choices are different, there are also people who will make and design unusual engagement rings that are just right for you. Choices differ and, if one has the time, one can shop around for the right engagement ring. Here, I present some of the most unique engagement rings that I have seen:
Claddagh are beautiful and unique engagement rings, which unfortunately are not owned by many people today. These rings generally depict a crowned image of two hands holding a heart. These unusual engagement rings were made in gold or silver and were used by the Irish to proclaim love for their betrothed. But with the passage of time, these unusual engagement rings lost their sheen in people’s eyes and not favored now, but if you put in some effort, you may find a vintage or antique Claddagh ring.
Eternity bands – in several different cultural communities in North America, women will wear three bands of unusual engagement rings. These three bands can be interpreted as an engagement ring, a wedding ring and an eternity band. Sometimes, these bands form a part of the wedding set. These are really unusual engagement rings in design as they are found only in one geographical area.
Puzzle engagement rings – these unusual engagement rings are available in a range of variety. In Greece, grooms give their fiancées puzzle rings which she has to then solve. These rings have three interlocking rings, which, when separated, transforms into a new and unique design.
Interlocking unusual engagement rings – Russian men like to present interlocking rings made of three different colored metals to their loved ones. The use of silver, rose gold and yellow gold in these rings signify chastity and fidelity of the groom.
Flea markets are awash with antique and unusual engagement rings and one can see a range of designs here. You will be able to choose from several different designs that were created by men for their much loved women. A few of the more unusual engagement rings design that I came across were silver and jade rings that were engraved with the lady’s name, cameo rings that had lovely opals set in the center of the ring, art deco rings that were pretty to look at but were extremely expensive, Cartier tank rings that were a little shabby but set in silver, gold and amber rings that were really pretty to look at with small insects stuck forever inside the amber, Mother’s rings that were inscribed with names and genealogies of several generations of women wearing the same ring, and family rings that had the family crest on them.
Unusual engagement rings are affordable and available. Take a good look at flea markets to find really wonderful designs that are affordable and unique. But do ask your fiancée to accompany you so that you don’t choose something that she will not like.
